{"id":1442,"date":"2009-06-22T09:18:33","date_gmt":"2009-06-22T13:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hawkdog.net\/wordpress\/?p=1442"},"modified":"2009-06-22T09:18:33","modified_gmt":"2009-06-22T13:18:33","slug":"bbcx-1000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hawkdog.net\/wordpress\/archives\/1442","title":{"rendered":"BBCX 1000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last Saturday the Conway Scenic Railroad brought a BIG load down through Crawford Notch (part of the old Maine Central <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mountain_Division\">Mountain Division<\/a> &#8211; one of the biggest grades east of the Mississippi). The load consisted of\u00a0 a two-piece transformer &#8211; one component on a heavy duty depressed center flatcar, the other on a cradle carried by a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schnabel_car\">Schnabel car<\/a>. The load came in from <a href=\"http:\/\/nuwnotes1.nu.com\/apps\/mediarelease\/psnhpr.nsf\/2AE29E31B31AA7608525733E0066786A\/24DD3360AB51590F852575D6005D2724\">China<\/a> (sigh) to Searsport, ME and made it&#8217;s way to Hazens, arriving there on Friday. Friday night CSRR hooked up 2 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ru2coy\/3510930646\/\">FP9s and a GP7<\/a> as motive power and attached a couple passenger cars to the tail end for potentates, panjandrums and poobahs.<\/p>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t able to get up to watch &#8211; I am going to try to get up for at least some of the transfer to a truck for the last leg &#8211; but the internet comes to the rescue.
