I mentioned that I was reading <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2wsMrzp\">Up in the Old Hotel<\/a> and he immediately pointed out a painting of shad fisher&#8217;s barges in Edgewater, NJ as mentioned by Joseph Mitchell.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Jos. Mitchell reference\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/doncoyote\/42977345835\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1818\/42977345835_dd5c87a7c6_z.jpg\" alt=\"Jos. Mitchell reference\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t been devouring books as quickly as I once did; I blame media hyper-saturation\u00a0 &#8211; just too much to absorb &#8211; but last night, in Mitchell&#8217;s The Rivermen chapter, I finally encountered the old barges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"edgewater barges\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/doncoyote\/44299046011\/in\/dateposted\/\" data-flickr-embed=\"true\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm2.staticflickr.com\/1889\/44299046011_48bab8ee38_z.jpg\" alt=\"edgewater barges\" width=\"640\" height=\"468\" \/><\/a><script async src=\"\/\/embedr.flickr.com\/assets\/client-code.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m thinking rivers may be the most interesting form of water. Bold statement, I know.
